Evacuation guidance
All our flat buildings follow ‘stay safe’ evacuation guidance. This means that if there is a fire elsewhere in your block, you can usually stay inside your flat as long as you feel safe. Our buildings are designed to contain a fire within the home where it starts.
If you smell smoke, see fire, feel unsafe or are told to leave by the fire service, you should get out and stay out.
If a fire starts in your flat, get everyone out straight away. Close doors behind you, do not use the lift and move to a safe place away from the building. Once you are safe, call 999.
If you are in a communal area and believe there is a fire, leave the building immediately and call 999.
If you ever feel unsafe, leave the building using the nearest escape route and follow the fire exit signs. Close doors behind you and do not use the lift.
