Fire safety in taller buildings
Your safety is our priority. If you live in a flat or a building with communal areas, it’s important to understand how your home is designed to protect you and what you should do if there is an emergency.
Evacuation guidance
Most of our buildings follow ‘stay safe’ evacuation guidance. This means they are built to contain a fire within the flat where it starts, helping to protect other residents and escape routes.
Responsibilities
Keeping your building safe is something we do together. There are simple steps you can take to reduce fire risks, such as keeping corridors clear, not storing items on balconies and never wedging fire doors open
Fire doors
We carry out regular fire risk assessments, inspect fire doors, test alarms and emergency lighting, maintain lifts and make sure every home has a working smoke alarm
We also carry out checks on flat entrance doors in taller buildings and inspect communal fire doors throughout the year.
Window safety
If you live in a flat, it’s important to understand window safety and how restrictors help prevent falls, especially where children are present.
Report a safety issue
If you spot something that doesn’t look safe – such as a damaged fire door, blocked corridor, faulty lift or broken window restrictor – please contact us as soon as possible.
