A place you belong
We want every colleague to feel valued, respected and empowered to make a difference in a diverse and inclusive environment.
Inclusion at whg means:
- Valuing different perspectives.
- Listening to all voices.
- Creating space for people to be themselves.
- Removing barriers so everyone can succeed.
We’re committed to building a workplace where everyone feels included, respected and able to thrive. Our refreshed Diversity & Inclusion strategy sets out clear actions to create lasting and meaningful change.
Induction and onboarding
When you join us, your manager will create a structured induction plan tailored to your role. This will help you get to know whg, meet key colleagues and understand how we work.
During your first few weeks, you’ll complete essential learning, connect with people across the business and explore a dedicated intranet hub designed to help new starters find their way around. You’ll also take part in our one-day corporate induction, where you can meet other new colleagues and hear from leaders across whg.
Colleague Voice
From your first day, you’ll be part of Colleague Voice, our engagement approach that ensures every colleague can influence how we work. All colleagues are encouraged to share feedback through surveys and pulse checks, join listening forums and get involved in activities, events and project groups.
Colleague Connect
Colleague Connect is a group of 100 colleagues who work on projects linked to Colleague Voice. This group reflects the diversity of whg, bringing together colleagues from across directorates, teams, roles and lived experiences.
By joining Colleague Connect, colleagues can take part in task-and-finish groups, become a change, digital or sustainability champion, help review policies and working practices and shape colleague engagement activities across the organisation.
Colleague Recognition Awards
We have incredible people working across all teams at whg, and we make sure we celebrate and showcase their amazing contributions. Our annual awards give colleagues a chance to nominate someone who has truly gone above and beyond. From showing outstanding leadership and delivering exceptional customer service, to demonstrating acts of kindness, this is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on those who make whg such a special place to work.
Equality, diversity and inclusion
Diversity and inclusion are central to who we are and a core part of our recruitment process. By valuing difference and creating a culture of belonging, we unlock new ideas and better outcomes for everyone. We want every candidate to feel included, respected and supported, be treated fairly and have equal opportunities.
Our culture at whg is built upon our strong values, with diversity, inclusivity and support for customers at the heart of our work. They are our core beliefs; they inform our decision-making and help shape our organisation. We support and develop our colleagues to succeed, and our work is done in a way that actively encourages diversity of thought. We believe that this will have a positive impact upon the way we design and deliver our services to our customers, resulting in better outcomes for all.
We collaborate with stakeholders and actively seek out partners who are aligned to the ambition of strategy. We are committed to ensuring that we are reflective of the customers we serve, and we understand that the data we collect will help us achieve this. This data driven approach shapes our services for our customers and our colleagues
We commit to being consciously inclusive. That means:
- valuing difference
- listening to all voices
- creating space for people to be themselves.
We’re members of Inclusive Employers, giving colleagues access to factsheets, webinars and resources. We also run regular Lunch and Learn sessions which are designed to help colleagues build confidence, support others and put inclusion into action every day.
