Residents of Goscote are being invited to play a starring role in a special exhibition celebrating the completion of the Goscote Lane Corridor regeneration, Walsall’s biggest ever residential regeneration scheme.

Residents can submit their memories and photos by 30 April by emailing communications.team@whgrp.co.uk or online for a chance to win a £40 voucher.

Delivered in partnership by whg, Walsall Council, Homes England and Keepmoat, and supported through WMCA funding (formerly Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership), the £115 million transformation has delivered 992 new homes and improved 46 acres of open space, creating a thriving multi-generational community in North Walsall.

Now, as the project reaches its conclusion, whg and its partners are calling on local people to share their own stories, photographs and memories to help bring the journey to life.

Contributions could include:

  • Photographs of the area before or during construction
  • Memories of what it was like to live in Goscote before regeneration
  • Stories about how the new homes and open spaces have changed day-to-day life
  • Reflections on how the community has grown and evolved

Gary Fulford, Chief Executive at whg, said: “This regeneration has always been about people as much as bricks and mortar. We want residents to have their voices at the heart of the exhibition. By sharing your photos and memories, you will help capture the incredible journey Goscote has been on and the pride of the community today.”

Shaun Fielding, Regional Managing Director at Keepmoat West Midlands, added: “It has been a pleasure to work alongside whg to deliver 819 new homes across multiple phases at Goscote, including 126 through an affordable rent scheme. As part of our fantastic partnership, we’re proud to have transformed 29 acres of land into a vibrant new community.

“By revitalising the area over the last 15 years, we have created a thriving community and we’re eager to showcase imagery and stories from the residents. At Keepmoat, we’re committed to more than delivering homes, we work to sustainably regenerate neighbourhoods and create connected, multi-tenure communities where people want to live.”

Councillor Adrian Andrew, Deputy Leader of Walsall Council said: “The Goscote Lane regeneration is a significant housing scheme for the borough and local people are at the heart of it. I hope to see lots of residents sharing their photos and memories, it will be great to look back at what an incredible journey Goscote has been.”

Residents can submit their memories and photos by 30 April by emailing communications.team@whgrp.co.uk or online

All submissions will be considered for inclusion in the exhibition, with selected contributions forming part of the official display alongside archive images, video footage and stories from community champions.

The exhibition will be free to attend and open to all. Full details, including dates, will be announced soon.
