whg’s chair of the board has been named in a list celebrating the top 20 women in housing.

Danielle Oum was selected for Inside Housing’s Women in Housing: Leaders 2020 for making a real difference in the sector.

Judges were impressed by Danielle’s work to bring together housing and healthcare to best serve local communities, reduce poverty and promote inclusion.

As chair of whg and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, Danielle has enabled whg to play an increasingly recognised role in the preventative health arena through the support it provides to residents around health needs, substance misuse and older people’s independence. Under her leadership an Integrated Care Partnership has been developed called Walsall Together. This partnership has aligned the efforts and resources of the housing and health sector, and led to a reduction in duplication of effort and increased quality and access for patients.

During the pandemic, Danielle was able to maximise her dual chair roles to foster these relationships and enhance the borough’s coronavirus response.

Danielle said: “It is a great honour to be included in the top 20 women in housing, particularly as I am in the company of lots of women leaders that I greatly respect. I am very appreciative of receiving this recognition and continue to support the housing sector to make a difference to the lives of our residents and the communities we serve.”

Karen Marshall, whg’s Corporate Director of Governance, said: “Danielle really understands our customers and the issues they may face, and has used her knowledge of both the housing and health sector to optimise the support available to households across the borough.  She’s passionate about providing good quality housing and helping people whatever their needs – she really is in a league of her own.”

Danielle was named and profiled in a special Inside Housing supplement published on 23 October.
