A £15m housing project that will see thousands of homes receive new roofs is well underway in West Walsall.

Leading Midlands’ housing association whg is working with Lovell Partnerships on the mammoth programme, that will eventually improve the homes of 2,500 customers living in Bloxwich, Pleck and Willenhall.

The three year maintenance project is now two years in, with households reaping the benefits of more energy efficient and attractive roofs.

The project has delivered a wide range of community enhancing benefits and has supported the local economy with targeted procurement employing local sub-contractors and recruiting 12 local apprentices.

Director of Energy and Programme Management Paul Dockerill said: “We’re passionate about adding social value where we can, and it’s great to be working with Lovell, who share our values and understand the importance of supporting our communities.

Lovell’s Regional Refurbishment Director Carl Yale said: “We are delighted to have been given this opportunity to leave a lasting legacy for the people of Walsall and promoting economic growth during this roofing programme, whilst improving peoples’ quality of life and their homes.”
