whg to invest £13.7m in warmer, more energy efficient homes across Walsall
whg is working with E.ON to deliver energy efficiency improvements to 961 homes across Walsall, as part of the government’s Warm Homes programme.
The £13.7m investment will support whg’s ongoing work to make customers’ homes warmer, more comfortable and more energy efficient, while helping to reduce carbon emissions.
All 961 homes will receive an initial assessment to identify the most suitable improvements for each property. The main focus of the programme will be on installing solar PV, as well as cavity wall insulation and loft insulation where required.
Initial assessments began in November 2025, with work starting on site in April 2026. The programme is expected to be completed by March 2028.
Paul Baker, Director of Assets – Investment, said: “We know how important it is for our customers to live in homes that are warm, comfortable and affordable to run.
“This investment will allow us to make practical improvements to hundreds of homes across Walsall, from installing solar panels to improving insulation where it is needed.
“We’re really pleased to be working with E.ON to deliver this programme and support our wider commitment by investing in our existing homes and creating more sustainable communities.”
The work forms part of the government’s Warm Homes Plan, which aims to upgrade homes across the country, help families save money on energy bills and tackle fuel poverty.
The programme supports whg’s wider commitment to improving the energy efficiency of its homes, reducing carbon emissions and helping customers live in homes that are fit for the future.
