Leading Midlands housing provider whg has once again achieved international recognition for its commitment to sustainability.
For the third consecutive year, the organisation has been awarded the Certified Sustainable Housing Label by pan-European consultancy RITTERWALD, confirming its position as one of the UK’s most forward-thinking and responsible housing providers.
In its latest assessment, RITTERWALD awarded whg the highest possible rating of ‘Frontrunner’ in the social dimension, and an ‘Ambassador’ rating in both the environmental and governance categories. These ratings confirm whg’s consistency and leadership in embedding sustainability across the organisation.
The assessors praised whg’s performance, highlighting its work in the social dimension as “outstanding.”
Over the past year, whg has continued to build on its strong sustainability foundations. Work began at Dudley Fields in Bloxwich to deliver one of the UK’s first net-zero carbon-ready neighbourhoods while some of the organisation’s first EPC-A rated homes were completed in Walsall. Meanwhile more than 12% of colleagues are now accredited as carbon literate through the Carbon Literacy Project.
Rob Gilham, Corporate Director of Strategy, Assets and Transformation said: “As a social landlord, sustainability is not just about protecting the environment – it’s also about creating thriving communities. We are proud of the work we’ve done to reduce our environmental impact while building stronger, more resilient neighbourhoods. To receive this recognition for the third year running is a real achievement and a testament to the efforts of our entire team.”
