whg customers attended a celebratory event as part of Social Prescribing Day last week.

The leading Midlands’ landlord invited customers who have received or are receiving support from its social prescribing service to celebrate their progress.

Walsall College provided free haircuts, facials and nail art to help customers relax and enjoy some self-care.

Customers were able to hear about other services and opportunities from the leading Midlands’ landlord, including Jobs and training and Customer Voice.

Local partners including Rethink, and Black Country Mental Health were also on-hand to offer support and advice on how to improve mental and physical health.

Emily King, Social Prescribing Manager, said: “This event brought together customers to meet new people, enjoy some time to themselves and to celebrate how far they’ve come on their social prescribing journey.”

Social Prescribing Day celebrates how social prescribing can improve health and wellbeing by actively connecting people to activities, groups and services.

whg’s H Factor programme (which stands for Health, Hope and Happiness) connects customers with a Social Prescriber who works alongside them to improve their health and wellbeing.

The team of Social Prescribers, formed during Covid, work with vulnerable customers to build confidence, reduce loneliness and isolation and support them to achieve their goals.

Since its launch, whg’s H Factor programme has helped over 1000 customers, with many moving into training and employment.
