What domestic abuse is

Domestic abuse can happen to anyone. It is a pattern of behaviour used to control, harm or intimidate another person.

It may include:

  • Physical or sexual abuse
  • Emotional or psychological abuse
  • Coercive or controlling behaviour
  • Financial or economic abuse
  • Harassment or stalking
  • Online or digital abuse

In many cases domestic abuse is carried out by a partner or ex-partner, but it can also involve family members or carers.

If you feel you are experiencing domestic abuse, support is available. We will work with partner organisations and professionals to help keep you safe.
