whg’s work to create positive change within local communities has been valued at £48.7m, a £5.5m increase on the previous year’s figures.

The leading Midlands’ landlord’s annual social value report measures the wider impact it has made to local people, communities, and the planet in the last 12 months through its work in local neighbourhoods.

This includes investing in emergency help to get households through hard times, developing long-term programmes to match local people to training and job opportunities and tackling the wider determinants of health to improve wellbeing and create stronger communities.

In 2021/22 whg supported 2,210 customers struggling financially to claim £5.6m in benefits, improved the employment prospects of 1,821 people with over 200 securing a new job, helped 910 customers to get online and supported 1,274 people to improve  their health and wellbeing. Its development spend was worth £166.6m to the local economy, with £47.6m spent on building 420 new homes.
