This ASB Awareness Week, we are helping customers feel more confident about recognising antisocial behaviour, reporting it and getting the right support when they need it.

We understand that antisocial behaviour (ASB) can really spoil your enjoyment of your home and neighbourhood, and we will do all we can to make sure you feel safe in your community.

We take every report seriously and want you to feel supported and listened to. Here is what you can expect from us when you report ASB.

How we handle your ASB report

  1. We review your report
We will respond to you and begin an investigation within 5 working days, or within 1 working day if it’s a high-risk case. Our Community Safety Team will look at what you have told us and ask for the details and evidence to make sure that we fully understand the issue. We may ask you to support us to capture evidence, or report incidents to the police and give us the reference number.
  2. We investigate your report
So that we have the full picture we will investigate thoroughly, speaking to you, everyone involved and local partners like the Council or police if we need to. We will keep you informed of progress and ask you to keep in touch with us until the matter is resolved.
  3. We agree on an action plan
Once we have all the facts and evidence we will agree an action plan with you. We will tell you what we can do and what you can do to help to resolve things. We may organise mediation to help you solve problems with your neighbours. In serious cases we will work with partners to take reasonable and proportionate formal action where we are able. This could include injunctions and, as a last resort, even seeking possession of a home. This can sometimes take time as we have to follow legal processes and we can only act where there is evidence.

Who we work with

We have a dedicated team who work with the local council and police to deal with ASB in your area.

There are several agencies involved in tackling ASB. For whg customers, the main three are:

  • The police
  • Your local council
  • whg

Each organisation has different powers and responsibilities, so we work together to find the best solution. We must work within the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

Helping to keep communities safe

We’ve invested in more cameras to help us deal with antisocial behaviour and keep neighbourhoods safer.

  • 434 fixed CCTV cameras across our communities
  • 6 mobile cameras that can be moved to different areas
  • 25 body-worn cameras used by our colleagues where they need them

That’s 465 cameras in total, helping us to spot problems, act quickly and gather important evidence needed to tackle ASB.

How you can help

We cannot tackle ASB alone. You can help by:

  • Reporting concerns early, even if you are not sure it counts
  • Sharing any evidence like photos, CCTV clips or witness statements
  • Keeping in touch so we can keep you informed

How to report ASB

If you are experiencing antisocial behaviour, you do not have to face it alone.
You can report ASB to us:

  • Online using our tool: Sign in to manage your home online and go to My neighbourhood
  • By phone: Call us on 0300 555 6666
  • In person: Visit our office or speak to your Community Housing Officer

You can report anonymously if you prefer, and we will always review the information you provide. But staying anonymous may limit how much we can investigate or how we keep you updated. Sharing your name means we can usually do more to help, but any report is a positive step.
