Kind-hearted colleagues at whg trekked through freezing conditions to raise more than £1,600 for charity in memory of a much-loved colleague.

More than 40 colleagues and contractors took part in Paul’s Walk, an 11-mile route to raise money for St Basils, which helps young people who are homeless or facing homelessness in the West Midlands.

The walk to Birmingham Christmas Market was held to honour Paul Dockerill, Director of Energy and Programme Management, who sadly passed away in 2022.

Each year Paul organised a Christmas walk to raise thousands of pounds for charity, and whg has continued the tradition in his name.

whg’s Business Change Project Manager, Donna Goodall, who took part and played a large role in organising the walk, said: “We are so proud of everyone who joined us in raising money for St Basils and remembering our colleague, Paul.

“The wet and windy conditions we walked through are nothing compared to what people facing homelessness endure every day.

“Paul was passionate about tackling homelessness, and we hope the money we’ve raised will go a long way in helping young people stay out of the cold.”

Paul joined whg in 2015 and played a crucial role in raising building safety standards, attracting national acclaim for his achievements.
