The publication of the latest Grenfell report has reminded the country of the importance of building safety and we want to be clear that we continually work to ensure our homes are safe places for our customers to live. All our high rise blocks have been inspected and meet all current regulations and there are no cladding issues on any of our high rise buildings.

We have:

  • Signed up to the Building a Safer Future Charter, demonstrating our commitment to building safety.
  • Created a dedicated Building Safety team with Building Safety Managers who are out and about inspecting our higher risk buildings.
  • Had all our buildings over 18 metres high externally checked and verified by independent safety experts.
  • Registered all our high-rise buildings with the Building Safety Regulator to ensure we are held accountable.
  • Created a Building Safety Case and a strategy for involving customers in safety matters for each of our blocks over 18 metres.

Our ongoing commitment includes:

  • Regular fire risk assessments for all high rise blocks.
  • Communal fire door inspections every three months and checks of customer front doors (in mid and high rise blocks) every year.
  • Monthly inspections of buildings over 18 metres to check safety measures.
  • Regular inspections by our Neighbourhood Services Team – daily to high rise blocks and a minimum of once a month to low rise blocks.
  • Testing whg-installed gas appliances in homes every year and regular electrical safety checks to homes and communal areas to make sure everything is working correctly.
  • Working closely with partner organisations like West Midlands Fire Service to keep you and your building safe.

What can you do to keep safe?

All our homes are fitted with smoke alarms, and if you have a gas appliance installed by us, a carbon monoxide detector. It is crucial to check these regularly to make sure they are working correctly as they could save your life.  If your alarms are faulty or need replacing please contact us on 0300 555 666.
