Meet the team keeping your home safe
At whg, your safety always comes first. We know how important it is to feel safe and secure in your home, and we’ve made big changes to make sure we keep it that way.
We’ve created a brand-new Building Safety team– made up of 118 experts who work every day to make sure your home is safe.
What does this mean for you?
We’ve brought together all the people who look after building safety – from gas and electricity to fire alarms and water safety – into one big team. This means we can:
- Spot and fix problems faster
- Make sure we meet all safety laws and regulations
- Keep you updated and informed
- Give you peace of mind that your home is being looked after properly
Fire safety
We’ve set up a brand-new Fire Safety Team, led by experts who check our buildings regularly. They:
- Carry out over 1,000 fire safety checks every year
- Visit every high-rise block at least once a year
- Make sure fire doors, alarms and escape routes are always safe and working
Gas and electrical safety
We have dedicated teams making sure your gas and electricity supply is safe. For example:
- Our Electrical Team visits every home at least once every five years to check everything is working safely
- Our Gas Team carries out regular safety checks in your home
Water, asbestos and lift safety
Our Compliance Team checks things like:
- Water systems to prevent legionella
- Buildings for asbestos
- Lifts to make sure they’re safe and working properly
Why we’re doing this
The government has introduced new rules to make building safety even stronger – and we’re going above and beyond to meet them. We’ve also invested in more staff, more training, and better systems to make sure you’re safe in your home.
