Leading Midlands’ landlord whg is hoping to score a hat trick after being shortlisted for three national awards.

The housing association has been named finalists in three categories of the 2020 Housing Heroes Awards, including Communications Team of the Year, Frontline Team of the Year and Central Service Team of the Year.

The work of whg’s Money Advice Team in supporting customers facing financial difficulty saw them shortlisted for Frontline Team of the Year. In the last year the team have helped 1985 households take the first steps towards managing their finances better and they have prevented 140 families from becoming homeless.

The Change Management Team is hoping to win in the Central Service Team Category. Despite being set up less than two years ago, the team has had a huge impact on the way projects are developed and executed. It currently manages a project portfolio worth around £2m.

Meanwhile the Communications Team has been shortlisted after impressing judges with its Digital First campaign, which encouraged thousands of whg customers to transition to online services.

Group Chief Executive Gary Fulford said: “We are delighted to be shortlisted for these awards. To make the finals in three categories is testament to the hard work and dedication of colleagues.”

They will find out if they have won at a virtual awards ceremony on Thursday 10 September.

The awards, which are jointly organised by Inside Housing and the Chartered Institute of Housing, aim to celebrate the passion, hard work and commitment of the housing sector’s heroes – those who truly make a difference to the communities in which they live and work.
