whg’s Director of Energy and Programme Management has been named chair of the National Housing Federation’s Building Safety National Group.

Paul Dockerill will head up the panel of 15 safety experts from housing organisations across the country, which has been set up to share experiences with the housing sector on building safety.

The group aims to gather feedback from housing associations as the government explores ways of improving the safety of high rise housing in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire.

Members will discuss how to put into practice the new system of building regulations proposed by the Government as it implements the findings of the Hackitt Review – a review into building safety and fire regulations following the West London tragedy.

Paul said: “I’m delighted to be named chair of the NHF’s Building Safety National Group and look forward to working with others within housing to drive forward the building safety agenda.

“The safety of our customers will always be a priority to the sector. This group will continue to promote great quality and build trust with tenants.

“There will be many challenges the sector needs to embrace, creating a new culture of collaboration and inclusion for all housing associations regardless of size. It is important we work together, share best practice and embrace the changes that makes this such a wonderful sector to work in.”
