whg has been named one of the country’s top house builders in a national survey, after completing more than 400 homes last year.

The leading Midlands landlord was ranked 36th in Inside Housing’s Biggest Builders 2020, which analyses housing association developers.

whg built 446 new homes in 2019/2020. Of these 298 were for rent, and 148 were shared ownership homes.

Developments completed last year span 16 different local authorities and include more than 60 homes built in Telford and Wrekin and more than 40 in Cannock.

Chief Executive Gary Fulford said: “We are proud to be expanding our property portfolio as we look to play a key role in tackling the UK housing crisis.

“This year looks set to be another busy year as we continue our development programme. Exciting projects include 62 affordable homes at Steelhouse Lane, in Wolverhampton, where 151 homes are being built on brownfield land. Work is also ongoing at Goscote Lane Corridor, the largest building scheme of its kind in Walsall, which is delivering more than 800 new, energy-efficient homes.

“We also recently announced an innovative new joint venture partnership between Lovell Partnership and our subsidiary Anthem Homes. Our first development through this partnership will be for more than 250 homes on the former Caparo engineering Works site in Walsall, which has stood empty for over a decade.”
