whg is donating 500 Christmas dinner packs to support vulnerable customers this Christmas.

The leading Midlands’ landlord has teamed up with Barclays Bank and Wiltshire Farm Foods to provide every customer who lives within one of its wellbeing schemes with a free meal pack.

The pack will provide each person in the household with a breakfast, lunch and dinner for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

The meals are being funded through the Barclays 100×100 UK COVID-19 Community Aid Package to support those households hardest hit by the coronavirus.

Customer Christine Ricketts said: “It was a lovely surprise to be asked if I wanted the meals. I’m not able to spend Christmas with my daughter this year due to COVID, and this pack means I won’t have to worry about cooking myself, which is a big relief.”

Connie Jennings, Head of Health and Wellbeing, said: “We know that many of our customers are on a low income and struggle at times like Christmas when people may feel there are extra pressures. This programme forms part of our Winter Kindness Campaign and offers support to customers who live alone and may be feeling lonely and isolated, those who have a long-term illness or disability and customers aged 65 and over who are on a low income.

“Hopefully these tasty meals will provide people with a little boost and a reminder that they matter. A little kindness goes a long way.

“My thanks go to Barclays for funding the project and Wiltshire Farm Foods for providing the meals.”

Kevin Hunt, at Wiltshire Farm Foods, said: “Our teams are extremely proud and excited to be part of sending a little Christmas cheer to the vulnerable customers of whg, especially this year which has been particularly challenging. We would like to thank the whole whg team for letting us be part of this most selfless and thoughtful gesture.”
