A new purpose-built wellbeing scheme that will help people aged over 55 live independently is due to open in Brownhills this summer.

Ellum Pointe, in Silver Court, is a £6.9m development that will provide 62 high-quality, affordable one and two bedroom apartments to rent.

The development is the next addition to whg’s growing wellbeing portfolio and is the leading Midlands landlord’s third purpose-built wellbeing scheme, following Cardan Pointe in Walsall town centre and Keelson Pointe in Leamore.

Ellum Pointe will provide 28 one-bedroom homes and 34 two-bedroom homes. Each apartment is built to a high specification and is suitable for people with mobility issues, with level access and a walk in shower.

Customers will have access to communal facilities, including a dining and kitchen area, TV lounge and a multi-function room, where they can meet up with their neighbours for coffee or join in with one of the variety of activities that whg hopes to host.

Customers at Ellum Pointe will also benefit from whg’s affordable and flexible wellbeing service, which offers additional support if they require it. The range of support can include regular home visits and engagement with leisure activities, which will encourage people to stay well, active and happy at home.

A designated whg wellbeing officer will work closely with customers from the moment they decide to rent.

Ellum Pointe, which is being constructed by Kier Living for whg, has received £1.5m funding from Homes England and is an integral part of the regeneration work that whg is leading on in Silver Court. This regeneration scheme will provide a total of 157 new, affordable homes, of which 107 will be for affordable rent and 50 for outright sale.

Work is currently underway at Silver Waters, a £3.3m development within the Silver Court regeneration scheme. This has been part-funded by Homes England and delivered by partnership homes developer Lovell. This will provide 32 homes, including 14 Rent to Buy and 18 Shared Ownership properties.

Clare Thomas, whg’s Head of Health and Wellbeing, said: “We are delighted to see the work ongoing at Ellum Pointe, our exciting new wellbeing scheme that will be perfect for those aged over 55 who are looking to ‘rightsize’.

“By living in Ellum Pointe, customers will have access to whg’s unique wellbeing service. This will tailor support to customers’ individual needs and aims to keep customers happy, healthy, active and connected with others.

“These high-quality homes are not just available to whg customers, so we would encourage everyone to spread the word about this exciting scheme to their family and friends.”
