whg has been shortlisted in two categories of the 2019 Housing Heroes Awards, in recognition of the work it does to transform communities.
The leading Midlands landlord has made it through to the finals of the Frontline Team of the Year Award for its VIEW Money Advice Team, while customer Linda Cole has been shortlisted for the Tenant Lifetime Contribution Award.
whg’s VIEW Money Advice Team visit customers in their homes to offer guidance with Universal Credit and support with managing finances. In the last year they have helped 603 households take the steps to start managing their finances better and prevented 28 households from becoming homeless.
Linda has been a board member since 2014 and has made a significant difference to the lives of tenants, both in terms of communicating back to the organisation what customers want to see and in mentoring others to get involved.
She also chairs the Customer Experience Committee, which helps influence and shape customer service as well as assessing compliance with the Regular for Social Housing’s Consumer Standards.
Chief Executive Gary Fulford said: “Both Linda and the VIEW Money Advisers make a huge difference to the lives of our customers and the work of whg and I’m delighted that their dedication and hard work has been recognised in this way.”
They will find out if they have won at an awards ceremony in Manchester on 24th June.
The awards, which are jointly organised by Inside Housing and the Chartered Institute of Housing, aim to celebrate the passion, hard work and commitment of the housing sector’s heroes – those who truly make a difference to the communities in which they live and work.
