Colleagues at leading Midlands landlord whg have raised more than £31,000 for Cancer Research following a year-long fundraising drive.
A series of initiatives have been held for the good cause since it was announced as whg’s chosen charity in April 2018.
These have included dress down days, samosa sales, charity raffles and healthy activity sessions.
One of the highlights was an ascent to the summit of Snowdon in March. A 100-strong group took just six hours to complete the challenge, raising more than £8000 in the process.
Customers also contributed to the fundraising pot by donating cash during whg’s customer open day, Under the Sea, in August last year.
A cheque for the total amount of £31,474.37 was presented to Cancer Research UK Senior Nurse Karen Turner by Chief Executive Gary Fulford during whg’s annual colleague conference.
Gary Fulford said: “Colleagues have raised an incredible amount of money for this worthy cause, and their hard work has meant we smashed our target of £25,000.
“I’d like to thank all colleagues who have either taken part in a fundraising challenge themselves or donated to this worthy cause.”
Following a vote by colleagues, whg’s chosen charity for 2019/2020 has been announced as Acorns Children’s Hospice.
