whg has been named one of the country’s top house builders in a national survey, after completing more than 500 homes last year.
The leading Midlands landlord was ranked 26th in Inside Housing’s Biggest Builders 2019, which analyses housing association developers.
whg built 551 new homes in 2018/2019. Of these 168 were for social rent, 169 were for affordable rent and 214 were low cost ownership.
Developments completed last year include Silver Court, in Brownhills, where 107 high-quality, affordable homes and 50 private sales homes were built. The scheme includes a wellbeing block of 62 homes for the over 55s.
Chief Executive Gary Fulford said: “whg are proud to be playing a key role in tackling the UK housing crisis, by providing high quality and affordable homes to people in the region.
“The next year will see us continue to forge ahead with our ambitious growth plans. Work will soon start on the final phase of the ambitious Goscote Regeneration Corridor - Walsall’s biggest ever regeneration scheme, which is bringing 800 new, energy-efficient homes to North Walsall, while plans are currently in place to trial our first modular homes, built off site, which will provide new homes at a greater pace.”
