whg has joined organisations across the Midlands to say thank you to the region’s unsung heroes.
The leading Midlands landlord sponsored the Fresh Start award at the Express & Star’s 2018 Great Big Thank You Awards, which took place at Molineux Stadium on January 18.
The event recognises those who work tirelessly to make communities better, go that extra mile to help others or have succeeded against all odds.
The Fresh Start award, which goes to someone who has battled the odds to make a positive contribution to their local community, was won by Jade Secker.
Jade, who works at The Haven, has battled severe anxiety for years. The 27-year-old now spends her time supporting others struggling with mental health issues.
She said: “I’m thrilled to win this award. This is a great platform to raise awareness of mental health issues and to tell people that there is help out there.”
Gary Fulford, whg’s Group Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted to sponsor the Fresh Start award for the Express & Star’s 2018 Great Big Thank You Awards.
“As one of the leading Midlands landlords we know that our communities are not just created with bricks and mortar, but by the people who live in them.
“All across the Midlands there are amazing people and volunteer groups working tirelessly to improve the lives of others and support those in need. Many of these individuals have had their own hurdles to face, and have overcome numerous barriers to make a positive contribution to their communities.
“This award is a great way to recognise those who have gone the extra mile and give them a great big thank you for all that they do!”
