Kind-hearted colleagues from whg went the extra mile to help save a Black Country children’s hospice at risk of closure.
A group of 50 people - including whg colleagues, partners and suppliers - walked from Walsall to Birmingham on 6th December to raise funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice.
They set off from whg’s Hatherton Street office and made their way on foot to Birmingham’s Christmas market – a distance of around 10 miles.
The group have already raised a staggering £5,500 with more money expected to be handed in through individual sponsorship and colleague donations.
Partner organisations involved in the walk included Lovell, Grafton, Reconomy, Surefire, Agility ECO, Wates and Wilmott Dixon.
Organiser Paul Dockerill, whg’s Director of Energy and Programme Management, said: “All of our colleagues have really got behind our chosen charity and it was great to see so many take part in this fun event and get into the spirit of the day.
“We also want to thank our partners for getting involved in the walk, which has raised thousands of pounds for a truly amazing cause.”

Colleagues have also been collecting presents for children at the hospice, which were delivered on the same day.
The hospice is the leading Midlands landlord’s chosen charity for the year.
The Save Acorns Black Country Appeal has a fundraising target of £2 million, which will help secure the long term future of Acorns Black Country Hospice.
