A Christmas gift appeal is set to make a difference to a number of local families this festive season.
Midlands landlord whg launched the appeal to support families feeling the financial strain over Christmas, when expectations from children can be high but parent’s income is low.
Generous whg colleagues have donated over 100 toys, books and other children’s gifts to the appeal which will be donated to families who live in Walsall and rely upon whg services.
The gifts will be distributed via whg’s team of Community Champions who support customers throughout the year.
Chief Executive Gary Fulford said: “whg is proud to be much more than a landlord. We are committed to supporting our customers to lead happy, healthy, successful lives.
“Our colleagues are always interested in going the extra mile and when asked to support local families by getting involved in this Christmas gift appeal, we were overwhelmed with the donations we received.
“Over the last twelve months our colleagues have donated over 500 hampers and gifts to families in particular during the school holidays which can put additional financial pressure on families who are on a low income.”
Alongside the gifts Community Champions are also encouraging customers to start 2019 by taking part in one of the many free education and training opportunities available at The Workplace, whg’s adult learning centre, based in Leamore.
“Our colleagues really demonstrate the true meaning of Christmas by thinking of others in this way,” Gary added.
