We are one of the Midlands' leading and most successful providers of affordable homes.

Customers of leading Midlands landlord whg could save on their energy bills thanks to a new discounted gas and electricity scheme launched in partnership with Co-op Energy.

The new tariff, called FuelGood Simplicity, will be available to all of whg’s 21,000 homes across the region.

Gary Fulford, whg’s Group Chief Executive, and Eddie Hughes, whg’s Chair of the Board, were among those to welcome the announcement at a special event held at the housing group’s offices in Hatherton Street, Walsall.

Gary Fulford said: “whg has developed this competitive tariff with Co-op Energy to encourage our customers to secure better energy deals. We are already seeing the benefit of this partnership, as a number of our customers have signed up to the tariff and are saving money on their energy bills.

“Our partnership with Co-op Energy also highlights whg’s commitment to tackling fuel poverty, as we are supporting the Government’s fight to cut the number of households that are unable to afford to keep their homes adequately warm.

“We are delighted to officially launch FuelGood Simplicity and look forward to the benefits it will bring to our customers.”

FuelGood Simplicity guarantees whg  customers a discount on Co-op Energy’s standard variable tariff, ensuring those who want the certainty of dealing with a reputable and well-known supplier pay one of the cheapest prices available for their gas and electricity.

And because it is powered by one of the UK’s biggest energy suppliers, customers who qualify for the Government’s Warm Home Discounts can also save an additional £140 a year.

David Bird, CEO of Co-op Energy, was also at the event and said: “We are part of the Midcounties Co-operative and are the UK’s largest energy supplier to be owned by its members. That means we are committed to co-operative values and to supporting local communities.

“Partnering with whg to offer this unique tariff is just one of the ways we are working with communities to alleviate fuel poverty.

“Not only do residents get a reliable, competitive price for their energy – with 100% renewable electricity as standard – but by taking up this tariff, they also help us support whg’s work to reinvest in homes across the region."

As part of the partnership, Co-op Energy will also support whg’s Energy Efficiency Champions, who help residents assess their own electricity and gas usage and find ways to cut their bills by reducing consumption.
