Leading Midlands landlord whg is encouraging customers to take advantage of a dedicated money advice service ahead of the introduction of Universal Credit.

whg has introduced a team of new money advisors in a project that has been funded by Visionary Investment Enhancing Walsall (VIEW).

This proactive, two-year project will work with customers most affected by welfare reform, to help them manage their money.

Customers will receive free and confidential advice in the comfort of their own homes on how to improve money management. Money advisors will assist customers with welfare benefits, debt concerns, budgeting advice and maximising their income.

They will also offer advice on how to prioritise their payments during the six week wait when Universal Credit begins.

Overall, the project aims to support those in financial hardship in order to prevent homelessness and sustain tenancies. The team will also work with other whg teams such as Health and Wellbeing and Employment and Training to encourage customers into employment, kick start their computer skills, manage lifestyle conditions and make positive health changes.

Qualified Money Advisors, Mark Hall, Pam Kumar and Karl Jones-Mair collectively have over 30 years in the financial industry and are pleased to offer their expertise to deal with cash worries.

Mark Hall, Money Advisor said: “We are generally trying to improve our customer’s financial situation. There are many discounts that customers can take advantage of such as savings to their energy and water bills. We are here to look after the best interests of our customers and to ensure they don’t get into any financial crisis.”

Pam Kumar, Money Advisor added: “We are always on the customer’s side. A lot of people are scared of the changes that Universal Credit will bring and want to know how it will affect them. It will affect many people and we are here to help. Our priority is to sustain customer’s tenancies and help customers better themselves.”

whg is contacting customers who are likely to be affected by Universal Credit, or have other barriers to sustain their tenancy. The full roll out of Universal Credit in Walsall is set for October 2018.
