Women thinking about a career in construction are being urged to sign up for a free course that will give them the skills they need to get into a trade.
Leading Midlands’ landlord whg is now enrolling customers on its UPLIFT Women into Construction training programme, which starts on 11th November.
Over the four week course, which is being run in partnership with Walsall College, participants will learn a range of skills including painting and decorating, health and safety, work at heights and scaffolding.
They will then move on to a two week work placement to put their new found skills to the test and be guaranteed an interview with local social enterprise Rising Stars, where 10 Painting and Decorating roles have been made available for participants.
Donna Goodall, Employment Engagement Officer, said: “This programme is a great opportunity to get into the painting and decorating trade - whatever your starting ability.
“We’ve already had huge success with this programme. On the previous course 82% of participants secured jobs as a result, with five being offered apprenticeships within
whg’s maintenance teams.”
The course is run at The Workplace in Leamore. Daily travelling expenses will be paid while on the programme and attendance will not affect any benefits.
Information sessions take place on 5th November. To book a place call 07921 940716 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
