whg is working hard to ensure that its estates are kept safe, green and clean during the coronavirus pandemic.

The leading Midlands landlord is continuing to deliver essential services during the lockdown – and this includes caretaking and grounds maintenance.

Neighbourhood Impact Officers are still visiting estates and are inspecting high-rise blocks Monday to Friday and low-rise blocks fortnightly to ensure fire safety measures are maintained, manage rubbish disposal, clean up litter and check essential equipment.

Contractors Pinnacle, who are responsible for keeping communal areas in all of whg’s blocks clean and hygienic, are continuing on site but have adapted their service to help reduce the spread of coronavirus. This includes focusing on high contact areas such door handles, hand rails, door entry systems and lift call buttons.

Meanwhile Continental Landscapes, who maintain whg’s 1.5m million square metres of grassed areas, have carried out the first grass cut of the season and are working hard to keep green spaces tidy.

Gary Brookes, Director of Housing, said: “The safety and welfare of our customers is our number one priority and we are delighted that we have been able to maintain key services during this crisis.

“Routine cleaning of blocks greatly reduces the risk of contaminated communal areas where infection can spread. We have adapted our way of working to comply with the social distancing guidance and are prioritising key areas to protect the most vulnerable.

“Our contractors have received considerable praise for the additional works they have carried out on-site and we’d like to thank them for their continued service during this time.”
