Housing colleagues have donated hundreds of items to a Midlands food bank to support those struggling with the cost of feeding their families.

Staff from leading Midlands landlord whg collected tinned items, pasta, toiletries and nappies for the Black Country Food Bank, which provides emergency food supplies to people via its 21 distribution centres.

They presented a total of 20 hampers to Walsall area Coordinator for The Black Country Food Bank Allan Boot.

Allan said: “We have six food banks in Walsall that rely on our main store house, which simply can’t meet demand at the moment.

“Donations like this are vital to keep the centre running – each hamper will support a family for a day and a half.”

whg’s Social Inclusion Manager Connie Jennings added: “As part of our School’s Out campaign whg has been working with partners and local businesses to give out food parcels to families feeling the financial strain of school holidays.

“Food banks like these are a vital service that provide a lifeline to families who sometimes struggle to make ends meet, so when Allan told us about dwindling supplies at the Black Country Food Bank we were only too happy to step in and help replenish the shelves.”
