Residents at a new over 55’s development in Brownhills enjoyed a special social evening to mark a month of living in their new Wellbeing home.

The customers, who all live at Ellum Pointe, in Brownhills, took part in a meet and greet, speed dating style, as they got to know their new neighbours.

The development, which opened in July, is whg’s third purpose-built wellbeing scheme, following the award-winning Cardan Pointe in Walsall town centre and Keelson Pointe in Leamore.

To celebrate its opening, and encourage the new residents to get together, a meet and greet was arranged in the communal lounge.

Customers moved around each other every 2.5 minutes, in a take on speed dating, to introduce themselves.

Service Manager Jayne Cooper said: “Our customers really enjoyed the event and chatted away with ease to one another.

“Research shows that lacking social connections is as damaging to health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. This was a great way for them to meet new people and hopefully this will result in new and lasting friendships within the scheme.”

Ellum Pointe is a £6.9m development that provides 62 high-quality, affordable one and two bedroom apartments to rent.

Customers benefit from whg’s affordable and flexible wellbeing service, which offers additional support when they require it. The range of support can include home visits and engagement with leisure activities, which will encourage people to stay well, active and happy at home.

Customers are already looking forward to future events planned at Ellum Pointe. These include a healthy lifestyles programme and an employment and training information session.
