Trades colleagues at leading Midlands landlord whg have stepped into the spotlight this week in the build up to National Tradesmen Day.

Today’s event is celebrated nationally and whg has joined in to recognise and thank our own trades colleagues, from electricians to plumbers and carpenters to plasterers, who work hard to provide a quality service to our customers.

Attending over 87,000 repairs per year, our trades colleagues can be relied upon to ensure our customers’ homes are of a high standard. Among their responsibilities is to respond to emergency repair appointments, where they aim to make the repair safe within three hours.

Throughout the week, whg has been running a social media campaign to share an insight into the lives of our proud trades colleagues and what they call ‘a job for life’.

Jon Bateman, a Multi-skilled Plumber, joined whg 18 years ago after completing an apprenticeship following school. He works on the Home Maintenance Projects Team, fitting appliances for those customers who are less mobile.

Jon, 36 said: “There is a real job satisfaction with being a tradesman. It’s nice to see the finished result. I fitted a shower once and the customer said that it had changed his life. It’s nice to have someone appreciate what you’ve done. I’m glad my hard work is able to leave someone happy.”

Nigel Harris, Director of Home Maintenance Services said: “National Tradesmen Day is an excellent opportunity for us to recognise our trades colleagues, their hard work and their contribution to the business. On behalf of whg, I’d like to say a big thank you to each and every one of them.”

National Tradesmen Day takes place each year on 15th September.
