whg is working to fight homelessness through proactive work from our housing teams and positive relationships with partner agencies.
If you are homeless or threatened with homelessness:

Please contact your local authority in the first instance. If you are in Walsall Borough, this is Walsall Council. They will advise you about securing your current accommodation or making alternative provision.

You should register with our choose & move service at the same time.

What is the Commitment to Refer? open-tab

In 2018, whg pledged to help halt homelessness by signing up to the National Housing Federation’s Commitment to Refer.

The Commitment to Refer is a voluntary counterpart to the Duty to Refer, part of the Homelessness Reduction Act. Under the Commitment to Refer, whg will refer our customers who are at risk of becoming homeless, and those living with them, to the local authority. We will also refer people we come into contact with through any of the other services we offer.

Whilst housing associations are not bound by the obligations of the Homelessness Reduction Act, whg has nevertheless pledged to meet it as a demonstration of our commitment to support those in need.

This pledge further reflects whg’s ongoing efforts to fight homelessness through proactive work from our housing teams and positive relationships with partner agencies.

The Commitment to Refer has been developed by the National Housing Federation (NHF) alongside the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government.
