whg’s first NHS jobs fair has been hailed a huge success after five attendees secured jobs on the night.

More than 100 jobseekers attended the event, which was held at the landlord’s Hatherton Street office in November.

Five were interviewed and offered jobs while they were there, with a further 36 allocated interviews.

whg customer and mum of four Rebecca  was offered a role as a Clinical Support Worker while at the event.

She said: “When my children started school I decided it was time to start my career. I did a college course which was run in partnership with whg which helped me with the interview process and taught me what the job entailed.

“I didn’t know what to expect but I had a mock interview and that prepared me for the real one.

“It’s brilliant that whg do things like this. I’d encourage anyone looking for work to contact them and get as much support as they can.”

The jobs fair was run in partnership with Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, with dozens of jobs on offer including those as Clinical Support Workers and Support Service Assistants as well as various bank opportunities.

Employment & Skills Manager Alison Matthews said: “It’s great to see our partnership with Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust going from strength to strength. Many of the customers who attended the fair had been through our two week training programme delivered by Walsall College that has been designed specifically to give participants the knowledge, skills and expertise to apply for a range of NHS positions. That so many have now secured interviews or have even been offered job within the NHS demonstrates how successful this project has been.”
