Homeless applicants

whg work in partnership with Walsall Council to support those who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.

If you are homeless or threatened with homelessness in the Walsall Borough area, please contact Walsall Council. They will advise you about securing your current accommodation or making alternative provision. You should register with our Choose & Move service at the same time.

Commitment to Refer

In 2018, whg pledged to help halt homelessness by signing up to the National Housing Federation’s Commitment to Refer.

The Commitment to Refer is a voluntary counterpart to the Duty to Refer, part of the Homelessness Reduction Act under which public bodies are obligated to refer those who are homeless or threatened with homelessness to a local authority.

Whilst housing associations are not bound by this obligation, whg have nevertheless committed to meet these requirements to demonstrate our commitment to supporting those who need it most.

This new pledge further reflects whg’s ongoing efforts to fight homelessness through proactive work from our housing teams and positive relationships with partner agencies.

The Commitment to Refer has been developed by the National Housing Federation (NHF) alongside the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government.
