We are forging ahead with our aim to develop 550 new homes each year across the Midlands, and currently have 19 schemes on site delivering 713 homes.*

Within Walsall, work has officially started on a new 252-home mixed-tenure community. Lockside is the first development for joint venture developer Anthem Lovell LLP, a partnership between Lovell, and our subsidiary Anthem Homes.

In the north of the borough, we are also on site at Goscote with partner Keepmoat, where 126 affordable homes are being built as part of the third phase of the ambitious Goscote Lane Corridor regeneration programme – the largest scheme of its kind in the borough.  Once completed, the overall scheme will have delivered more than 800 new, energy-efficient homes.

As we look to play an even bigger role in helping address the housing crisis we are moving into new areas and extending our services across the Midlands.

This includes Walsall Road, in Norton Canes, where we are building 67 homes with our partner Vistry Partnerships Ltd. The development will include 14 homes for shared ownership and 53 for affordable rent, including one and two bed apartments and two, three and four bed houses. The development is one of several schemes we are working on in Cannock. Others include Pye Green Road, in Hednesford, where we will acquire 50 social rent homes and 17 homes for shared ownership from housebuilders Barratt, and 44 homes at Norton Hall Meadow with partner Persimmon Homes.

In Wolverhampton, we are working with Cannock-based Jessup to redevelop the former bus depot site at Cleveland Road in front of the Royal Hospital. A total of 74 apartments and 18 houses are being built. This is in addition to the 62 affordable homes being built by partner Lovell at Steelhouse Lane, on brownfield land which has sat empty since 2006.

Further afield, in Lichfield, we are working on our first scheme with Keon Homes at Burton Road, Streethay. Planning has been granted for the 20-house development which will be a mix of nine affordable rent and 11 shared ownership houses and apartments. Work is expected to start on site in December 2020.

We look forward to continuing our work in 2021 as we make our mark as a serious and growing provider of homes not just in Walsall but across the region.
