  • Thinking of getting a smart meter?

    If you’re thinking of getting a smart meter in your home to help manage your energy use, you should check you are getting the latest type - called SMETS2.

    A SMETS2 meter will still work even if you later decide to switch energy suppliers. An older SMETS1 type of meter could lose its ‘smart’ functions if you switch suppliers.

    Ask your supplier if they can provide a SMETS2 meter instead of a SMETS1 meter. If they can’t give you a SMETS2 yet, it may be worth waiting to avoid future problems.
