We offer a range of activities, advice and information sessions to help people stay independent and maintain good physical health and mental wellbeing.
Co-ordinated by our friendly Health and Housing Team, all of our programmes are open to Walsall residents aged over 50 and are freeto join.
Falls and fractures are one of the main causes of hospital admissions for older people. Having a fall affects us physically but can also lead to depression through loss of confidence, fear and difficulty getting out of the house to meet friends, family and take part in social activities.
We work with individuals and groups to raise awareness of the causes of falls and offer advice and tips on how to prevent them.
Eating healthily and keeping active
Keeping active and eating well into older age helps maintain mobility, independence and reduces the chances of long term illness such as heart and lung disease, obesity and diabetes.
Taking part in exercise is also a social activity that gives you regular contact with other people and an opportunity to make new friends and boost your confidence - all important for good mental wellbeing. You can take part in:
- walking football
- tai chi
- gardening projects.
If these activities don’t appeal, we’ll try to find you something that does!
