When to pay

Unless otherwise agreed, your rent is payable every week. All rent is due in advance for the week ahead. It is important that you pay regularly and do not fall behind with your payments - known as arrears.

If you pay fortnightly or monthly, you must do so in advance.

The rent you have to pay is worked out over 50 weeks of the year.

That means there are two weeks each year when no rent is due. These are known as ‘rent free’ weeks. In 2012, the rent free weeks will be on the 24th and 31st December 2012. This does not apply if you are in rent arrears - you must still pay during these weeks.

Paid too much

If your rent account is in credit, you can stop paying your rent until the credit has gone. You can ask for a refund using our Rent refund request .

Before we refund any overpayments to you, we check that you do not owe whg any money on any other accounts that you hold with us. If you are in debt on any other accounts that you hold with us, your rent account credit will be used to clear these first and the remainder refunded to you.
