whg has invested in a huge programme of community engagement activities that promote social inclusion and create opportunities that will tackle worklessness.

We have a dedicated team of Community Champions who spend time out in the community supporting local people through our capacity building project. This approach was recognised in 2011 as regional best practice by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH).

We deliver a broad range of projects and initiatives that help to increase people’s confidence and increase their access to opportunities. Our community projects are an excellent example of how we work with our supporters and partners to deliver targeted and innovative solutions which engage local people and help them to realise their aspirations. A key focus of our work is about improving people’s quality of life, and making places everyone can be proud to live and work in.

whg also provides access to funding for community groups and activities, including VIEW and Local Neighbourhood Funds.
