Help in the community
We have a team of Community Champions who work with customers, helping them to gain confidence in their own abilities. Through various activities, resources and support they aim to strengthen the skills, abilities and confidence of people and community groups to take effective action and leading roles in the development of communities.
Community Champions consult with local people about issues that affect them in day-to-day life. They are based in the community, visiting homes and providing doorstep advice to those who cannot access services. The team works alongside Health Trainers to help improve the health of communities and provide signposting to other services.
The Community Champions are part of our NOW programme, a capacity building programme which aims to regenerate communities through improved housing, better health and access to training and employment opportunities.
