Community alarms
Walsall Council Social Care provides community alarms, which mean that you can call for help from anywhere in your home.
The service provides its customers with a lifeline and pendant alarm, which can be worn around the neck, wrist or clipped to clothing. Upon pressing the red button a signal is sent to a 24 hour response service.
If you think you would benefit from a community alarm, call Walsall Council on 0845 111 2922 to make an appointment for a trained member of the social care team to visit you. This visit is free of charge and will determine whether you require a 24 hour response service or any other equipment.
The team can also assess you for additional equipment including fall detectors, flood detectors, bogus caller alarms, property exit sensors and night time epilepsy sensors.
There is a charge of £12.50 per month for the 24 hour response service. However you will not have to pay if you are aged 80 years or over, already paying for other community care services or supported living, or if you are getting the minimum income guarantee and no other benefits.
