Will this affect you?
If your rent is currently paid either in full, or in part, by housing benefit you may be affected by changes from April 2013. The changes mean that some people may receive less housing benefit if the government decides you have one or more 'spare' bedrooms. For more information read our All about changes to housing benefit [pdf] 944KB leaflet or watch the video below.
If you will be affected by the changes, there are a number of ways in which we can help. You may consider setting up a direct debit, moving to a smaller home or taking in a lodger. Talk to our Money Mentors for benefits and debt advice. You may also consider finding employment. Visit JobCentre Plus for help and information.
