community safety

domestic violencewhg’s community safety team is committed to supporting the respect agenda to reduce and prevent anti-social behaviour. We offer a robust customer-led service and actively support victims and witnesses of crime and disorder including domestic violence, racial harassment and hate crimes.

How do we do this?

  • We offer one to one support in confidence to victims and witnesses, arrange pre-court visits, accompany witnesses to court and provide an aftercare service.
  • We provide security and safety measures to meet customer's needs in supporting and protecting vulnerable adults from abuse, making the vulnerable feel safe within their homes.
  • We advocate a mediation service, which is fast, cost effective, voluntary and impartial, helping customers resolve disputes and conflicts. We can mediate between family and friends also.
  • We are trained in VEV (Visual Evidence for Victims) to record photographic evidence of injuries or damage to property.
  • We offer support through the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) to address frontline services around the needs of young people and children.
  • We are trained in dealing with neighbourhood disputes and anti-social behaviour using restorative approaches.
  • We manage tenanted and empty properties, work towards minimising anti-social behaviour issues on estates and allocate properties to affected tenants.
