Approval from the Walsall Planning Committee in December 2006 signalled the start of a major new regeneration scheme in Pleck, which will see the development of a total of 223 new houses for both rent and private sale.
Working in partnership with Bovis Homes, the first phase of the scheme has now been completed. The Mulhouse Court Development consists of 39 apartments on Bescot Road, just a short distance from the old Pleck site. Former customers of Scrimshaw House on the old site have now moved into the new building.
Scrimshaw House will become the sixth tower block to be demolished here, making way for phase two of the Pleck site redevelopment of 184 houses and apartments for rent and sale as part of the £20 million Oxford Place development. The partnership agreements with both our demolition contractors and Bovis include construction training for local people as part of the whg enterprise and training agenda. Proposals have also been drawn up to improve the environment and public realm facilities, work which will be eligible for the VIEW regeneration fund.
whg has worked closely with local residents, their representatives, the surrounding community and other stakeholders to lay a solid foundation for a successful new future for Pleck.
