
The Major Works Programme for 2009/10 to 2012/13 will be subject to competition in accordance with EU procurement rules. An OJEU Contract Notice seeking Expressions of Interest is to be issued later this year. Works are to include for the refurbishment, planned maintenance and environmental improvements to homes and their surroundings in the Walsall Housing Group (whg) area.
With regards to the 2008/9 programme Walsall Housing Group (whg) is extending its existing arrangements and is currently holding detailed negotiations with it’s current construction partners, namely: Frank Haslam Milan; G. Purchase; and Wates Construction Ltd, to continue it’s successful investment into local homes and the environment over the next twelve months.

Reasons for demolition
We intend to demolish the Premises because whg in partnership with Walsall Council have agreed a programme of regeneration in the Goscote area. This is now referred to as "The Goscote Lane Redevelopment". Residents in the area have been and will continue to be involved in the development of the programme. However to progress this regeneration work it is necessary to demolish the above properties.
Proposed demolition period
We intend to demolish the Premises within a period commencing 1st May 2007 and ending with 31st March 2012.
Date by which this notice shall no longer have effect
The Initial Demolition Notice (as defined in paragraph 1(1) of Schedule 5A to the Act) will cease to have effect on 1st May 2012 (the "Notice Period") unless revoked or terminated under or by virtue of paragraph 3 of Schedule 5A to the Act.
Effect of this notice
From the validity of the Initial Demolition Notices we will not be under any obligation to complete any of the preserved right to buy or the right to acquire but this Notice does not prevent any tenant making such a claim for the preserved right to buy or the right to acquire or the taking of steps up to (but not including) completion of such claim but if we subsequently serve a final demolition notice pursuant to paragraph 13 of Schedule 5 to the Act the preserved right to buy or the right to acquire will arise whilst that final demolition notice is in force and any existing claim will cease to have effect.
Right to compensation
If any tenant has submitted to us a claim for the preserved right to buy or the right to acquire before the service of an Initial Demolition Notice, section 138C of the Act confers on that tenant a right to compensation in respect of legal and other fees and other professional costs and expenses paid by a tenant in connection with the exercise by that tenant of the preserved right to buy or the right to acquire providing any such tenant complies with the procedure set out in section 138C(2) of the Act.
