Community Spirit nomination deadline (28/07/10)

Rewards are on offer for Walsall people who demonstrate community spirit in their day to day lives.

Walsall Housing Group’s (whg) Community Spirit scheme celebrates good neighbours, community garden champions and outstanding young people.

The next deadline for nominations to be received by whg is 30th September 2010 and the following cut off point is 28th February next year.

Since the scheme’s launch in 2009, rewards worth more than £14,000 have been presented to residents across the borough who make a positive difference in their area.

Prizes are designed to help winners continue their good work, for example a community garden champion may win vouchers for a nursery while a good neighbour can be gifted money to fund a day trip or street party.

Residents of Autumn Close, High Heath, were recent winners in the community garden champion category. They collectively tend a garden between their bungalows and spent their vouchers on bedding plants and shrubs.
