community chest

The Community Chest is an element of the Visionary Investment  Enhancing Walsall (VIEW) regeneration fund.

The aim of the Community Chest is to support community activity in deprived areas, so that more people throughout the Walsall borough become involved in the regeneration of their communities and neighbourhoods.

The priority for Community Chest funds is to support projects in areas that are a key focus for regeneration activity in Walsall.

We want to direct the Community Chest funds to support the community to get involved in the regeneration of their areas.

The Community Chest will support:

1. actions which improve access to services, particularly for those groups that are vulnerable, hard to reach or at a disadvantage

2. actions which improve the health of local people, particularly through changes in lifestyle/behviour

3. actions which improve the local environment

4. actions which promote environmental sustainablility

5. actions aimed at preventing young people from becoming excluded from or under performing in schools

6. actions to increase the number of people taking part in groups, clubs and learning activities

7. activities to promote better understanding between different groups and communities

8. activities to provide people with the skills to become more involved with their local communities

9. activities to address crime and the fear of crime.

All projects must make clear how their proposed actions support people from the Community Chest target areas to become involved in the regeneration of their communities and neighbourhoods.

Projects can deliver a range of actions, however the quality and impact of a project is more important than the number of actions addressed.
