whg is well on its way to meeting the Government's Decent Homes target by 2008, and we are now turning our attention to building new homes, fit for life in the 21st century.
The first of these new homes are seven bungalows and two flats, specifically designed for the elderly, in Bloxwich. Many of our customers are elderly and meeting their needs is a priority for the Group.
Funded through the Housing Corporation and in keeping with the whg policy of sustainability, they not only meet the Government's Eco Homes target but are built to the Lifetime Homes Standard. This incorporates flexible design features that will preclude any requirement for major alterations if the needs of the residents change in the future.
These new homes are located opposite Blakenhall Village Centre, enabling the residents to make the most of the local facilities.
As well as a cafe and pharmacy, the Centre provides facilities for the Library Service, NHS Walsall, Social Services and the Youth Service. whg's Property Services, Estate Management and the Major Works teams for the Bloxwich area are also based at the Centre.
